Brown, a prolific drummer, percussionist and producer who during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s worked with dozens of top rock, pop, R&B and funk artists. Those collaborations include the Rolling Stones, Billy Preston, Minnie Riperton, the Temptations, Michael Henderson, the Jacksons, Ray Parker Jr., Quincy Jones, Rene & Angela and so many others. 
Brown was also a member of the band Raydio and partnered with bandmate Jerry Knight as Ollie & Jerry for the 1984 soundtrack hit, “Breakin’ … There’s No Stopping Us.” Here he discussed growing up and playing music with childhood friend Ray Parker Jr., starting out with Stevie Wonder and how each incredible gig led to another until he appeared on hundreds of treasured recordings. And then he also became a highly successful basketball coach and realtor and, well you have to hear/see it for yourself!

She can be heard on that group's smash hits including "Early in the Morning," "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," "Outstanding" and "Burn Rubber."
During the latter part of that decade she connected with Rick James and released two solo albums, Seduction and Private Conversations. She can also be heard on several James songs as well as those by protege acts such as the Mary Jane Girls, including "In My House."
For the past three decades, Young has kept very backing artists such as Bobby Womack, Teena Marie, Dr. Dre, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Snoop Dogg, Gerald Levert, 2Pac, El Debarge, Charlie Wilson, Teddy Riley and many others. Most recently she has been involved in a revival of the Mary Jane Girls.

Since bursting onto the scene in 1985 with the festive doomsday anthem, “Party at Ground Zero,” the group has released seven studio albums along with several EPs and live recordings. 
Among Fishbone's other classic songs are “Cholly,” “Everyday Sunshine,” “Bonin’ in the Boneyard,” “Swim,” and covers of “Freddie’s Dead,” “Shakey Ground” and “Everybody Is a Star.” In addition, Fishbone has made its mark in film and television, and Norwood Fisher has also stepped out with other projects including leading the revolving-roster funk-rock collective known as Trulio Disgracias.
Here he addresses the entire history of both Fishbone and Trulio Disgracias, top memories and highlights, struggles, heroes and influences, and looks ahead to the future. The conversation even turns political during the final few minutes.

Featured in TIR Episode 166 (Part 3 of 3): Bassist-singer-composer Lonnie Marshall, also known as Mega-Nut, who is the founder and leader of the wild and woolly funk band Weapon of Choice. Heavily influenced by Parliament-Funkadelic, he conceptualized the group’s so-called Nutmeg grooves that were first heard on its 1994 debut album. That was followed by more than a half-dozen Weapon of Choice and Lonnie Marshall albums -- all of them refreshingly quirky, fun and superfunky. 
Having also performed and recorded with greats like George Clinton, Fishbone, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chaka Khan and Ice Cube, Marshall is still bringing amazing music to the masses. This year has been marked by digital re-releases of Weapon of Choice’s catalog as well as a new album called Cosmic Relief, Groove Healing & Verbal Remedies.
