Bursting onto radio in 1978 with the top 10 R&B, P-Funk-inspired hit, “Long Stroke,” ADC (A Direct Current) dropped five albums through 1982. Other standout tracks during that period -- some of them produced by the likes of Mass Production and the Fatback Band -- included “Stank Machine,” “Talk That Stuff,” “Hangin’ Out,” “Brother Luck,” “Roll With the Punches,” “U-Funk-Ula” and “So Good.” Those superbly funk jams would be enough, but as we will discover the ADC Band’s story goes much deeper -- with roots stemming from a true Detroit music legend.
