Featured in TIR Episode 262 (Part 2 of 2): Saxophonist-flutist-vocalist Bill Risbrook and guitarist-vocalist Rick Thompson, original members of one the great funk bands of the 1970s – the fabulous B.T. Express! Best known for their consecutive No. 1 smash hits “Do It (ߴTil You’re Satisfied)" and “Express,” the group saw all seven of its 1974-1982 albums crack the R&B Top 50 – with four of those records landing in the Top 20.
Their other hits and classic tracks included “If It Don’t Turn You On (You Oughta Leave It Alone),” “This House Is Smokin’,” “Give It What You Got,” “Peace Pipe,” “Can’t Stop Groovin’ Now, Wanna Do It Some More,” “Funky Music,” “Shout It Out,” “What You Do in the Dark,” “You Got Something,” “Give Up the Funk (Let’s Dance)” and “Stretch.” B.T. Express also helped launch the careers of two top funk and soul producers – Randy Muller and Kashif. And the group’s all-time classic debut album, Do It (Til You’re Satisfied), was recently rereleased.

He went on to handle sessions for Spyro Gyra, Bon Jovi, Rick Wakeman, Erick Sermon, New Edition, Shaquille O’Neal and others. Plus, he shares an amazing story about recording Prince and Sheila E back in 1983.

The group rocked radios, clubs and parties across the nation with the 1984 classic, “Jam on It” and also gained notoriety with tracks like “Jam on Revenge (the Wikki-Wikki Song),” “Computer Age (Push the Button),” “Destination Earth” and “Automan.”
Newcleus has continued to perform and a couple of years ago dropped the “Summer of ‘79” single. Here, Cozmo lays down some serious hip hop history and knowledge.
