Featured in TIR Episode 282 (Part 1 of 2): Funk, soul, rock and blues guitarist-singer-songwriter Leroy Emmanuel, an original member of The Counts and a longtime featured player with Bohannon. The Counts charted three albums between 1971-1975, and he appeared on more than 20 Bohannon albums.
Other credits include William Bell, the Clark Sisters, the Crowd Pleasers, Z.Z. Hill, LMT Connection and recordings and extensive touring under his own name. And he is still at it!

Featured in TIR Episode 281 (Part 2 of 2): Multi-instrumentalist Orlando Phillips and his drumming brother Greg Phillips, founding members of Starpoint -- one of the 1980s’ top R&B bands.
Led by the lead vocals of Renee Diggs and featuring two more Phillips brothers, Ernesto & George, along with Kayode Adeyemo, Starpoint released 10 albums from 1980-1990. Four of those records reached No. 32 or higher on the R&B charts, and the band notched 12 Top 40 R&B hits, including the 1985 crossover classic, “Object of My Desire.” Other top hits included “What You Been Missin’,” “Restless” and “He Wants My Body.”
The brothers continue to perform today, and a 6-CD box set of Starpoint’s Elektra recordings was released in November.

He also played with funk legend and Westbound Records labelmate Junie Morrison on records such as Suzie Super Groupie, and the recently unearthed and revelatory Live at Dooley’s 1975.
His other credits include P-Funk offshoot and Glenn Goins protege band Quazar’s sensational self-titled studio LP. Lately, he has been working again with former Quazar member Darryl Dixon and the Chop Horns, as well as Lakeside’s Steven Shockley and Faze-O’s Keith Harrison on new music planned to be released soon.
