Featured in TIR Episode 312 (Part 2 of 2): Soul, disco and funk singer George McCrae, best known for 1974’s No. 1 worldwide smash hit, “Rock Your Baby.” With his first three albums going Top 40 on the R&B chart, he also collected hit singles with “I Can’t Leave You Alone,” “I Get Lifted” and “Honey I.” During that time, he also collaborated with, managed and married vocalist Gwen McCrae.
Other notables he has worked with include Betty Wright, Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5, James Brown, KC & The Sunshine Band, Chic’s Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, and Rolling Stone Bill Wyman. McCrae’s most recent album dropped in 2016, and was simply titled, Love.

All four of their early 1980s albums reached the Top 25 of the R&B chart, with the debut, called The Two of Us, hitting No. 1. Those records featured seven Top 20 R&B hit singles, including a pair of dancefloor-ready chart-toppers in “Don’t Stop the Music” and “Don’t Waste Your Time.” Other big hits included “Heartbeats,” “Guilty” and “I Wouldn’t Lie.”
In more recent years, the duo has appeared in theater productions and continues to delight audiences on the concert circuit.

Featured in TIR Episode 310: Rapper, dancer, choreographer, musician and composer Tony Mosely. Better known as Tony M, from 1989-1993 he served as a member of Prince’s New Power Generation band. That included his hugely successful Diamonds and Pearls album – which is being released as a super-deluxe 7-CD package – and Love Symbol LP, as well as the NPG’s debut project and Carmen Electra’s self-titled album.
He was also prominently featured in Prince’s Nude, Diamonds & Pearls and Act I concert tours. In more recent years, he has appeared with the reunited NPG that honors Prince’s legacy.

Featured in TIR Episode 308 (Part 2 of 2): R&B and gospel music vocalist Alton McClain Scarborough, best known for the trio Alton McClain and Destiny. During 1978-1981, she recorded three albums with Destiny, including a Top 30 R&B album and the Top 10 hit, “It Must Be Love.”
In the early 1980s, she married famed composer and producer Skip Scarborough, who had presided over what would be the group’s final album. Moving into the 1990s and beyond, she turned to gospel on her subsequent releases. Late last year, she put out a wonderful version of Frankie Beverly and Maze’s classic, “While I’m Alone.”
She is also involved with the Scarborough Foundation, which provides scholarships and grants to public school students gifted in the performing arts.
